As I sit here and write this it is very hard to believe that another year has come and gone. It seems like only yesterday I was ringing in 2011. I figured I would do the traditional year in review post to look back over my year.
January- I was working at chick-fil-a, and in the midst of ski school. I injured my knee skiing near the end of the month and took a break for a week or two.
February – On super bowl Sunday, the day before I was to return to skiing, I tore my ACL in my right knee. along with my MCL, and my meniscus. My job with CFA was officially over. This month was filled with trials, and growth.
March – I continued to strengthen my knee, and made the decision to have surgery on it. I tried to prepare myself for life after this life altering surgery. I finished redoing my room, (thanks to my sister) and tried to enjoy my time.
April – On the 7th I had ACL reconstructive surgery which put me on crutches for the rest of the month. I spent lots of time in physical therapy, and in my bed. I am so very thankful for the people that stood by me and took care of me during that time.
May – I turned 17!! My goal was to be off of my crutches by my birthday, and thankfully I was. I celebrated with close friends and family. The rest of the month was spent catching up on life.
June – It was finally summer! I enjoyed my summer, and went to the Wilds. When we got back we also got 2 lab puppies! Bella and Charley 🙂 I then started job searching after being cleared by the doctor to return to some form of work.
July – I went to Southland Christian Camp for the second time with two close friends. It was life changing. I got back to an answered prayer for a job. I began Nannying Aiden Fisher shortly afterwards. We went to Kings Island, it was my first official road trip without an adult.
August – I got really sick near the beginning of August and ended up having to cut my nannying job short. A week or so later in the midst of job searching I got an unexpected call from a bank asking me to come in for an interview. Katie turned 15!
September – We went to the beach for the first time in ages, and while we were there I got the call about getting the job at the bank. I went on a wonderful Cora Voce retreat. I remembered what happened 10 years ago, Sept. 11. Sept. 12 I started my new job.
October – I was busy with school and work. I made lots pumpkin cookies. My boyfriend was on homecoming court —- proud girlfriend. I took my ACT, and got my SAT scores back. I watched Courageous twice and decided it was the best movie of the year. I dressed up like a zombie and handed out candy with my best friend/boyfriend.
November – I visited my first college, and fell in love with it (BJU). I worked a lot more. Matt and I went to our last fall social of high school. I celebrated a wonderful thanksgiving with my family, and Matt’s family. I went black Friday shopping. Matt and I went to the MU v. ECU football game.
December – I ( plus matts family ) threw Matt a surprise 18th birthday party! I had my last two Christmas Concerts with Cora Voce. I misplaced my camera, but then thanks to awesome friends found it. I no longer had a job. My best friends pulled me out of my slump. I was in the churches christmas cantata. I spent a WONDERFUL christmas with those that I love, and I have been trusting God with plans for my future.
Overall, my year truly was challenging. It has been one of the hardest times emotionally, spiritually, and physically that I have ever experienced. I wouldn’t trade this past year for anything though. I have grown in so many ways, specifically in trusting God with my life, and beginning to KNOW Him as my God. It’s a long process, but one I’m willing to take. I know that I have made mistakes this past year, and I will never be perfect, but I feel as though this past year I grew a lot as a person, and I hope the next year will be even better.
