Currently | April 2017

Somehow April is already here. This year is flying by and the last month since Baby H arrived has been the fastest of my entire life! Wow! These days I spend basically all day caring for my sweet boy and right now he’s taking a cat nap on my chest. I read some friends blogs and it reminded of what today was so I grabbed my phone and typed up this post because I’ve missed this link-up so much! I hope you’ll enjoy this little update and please excuse the fact that everything revolves around the baby now, but my entire life is wrapped around this little human and his schedule, so naturally he has to show up in what I’m currently doing ;). I’m still hoping to write his birth story soon, but until then enjoy this post about what I’m currently up to!

ACCOMPLISHING | Nourishing a human. Friends, when you are breastfeeding it’s near impossible to accomplish anything in the first few months. This kid eats constantly and the past few days he’s been prepping for a growth spurt which means even more eating than normal. I’m literally putting in full time hours breastfeeding. Some days I don’t get off the couch. Feed, change diaper, sleep. It’s all we do. But today we found out Baby H gained THIRTY OUNCES in the last 17 days, so I guess the feeding is paying off. I do dream of when I can get some other things accomplished though, until then thank the Lord for an amazing husband who is picking up my slack!

FEELING | Great! Minus the sleep deprivation of course.  It’s been a month since my c-section and while I’m not 100% back to normal, things are so much better than I thought they would be. Most of the time I completely forget I had major abdominal surgery a month ago. I know everyone’s experiences are so very different but I’m very thankful for my experience overall.

NEEDING | to start packing. We are going to West Virginia this weekend for a very quick visit so Baby H can meet some of his great-grandparents and so we can introduce our sweet boy to the mountain state we call home. I’ve obviously never traveled with a baby before and I’m trying to avoid overpacking too much. Also knowing how long it takes me to get anything done these days and that I have to pack for two people this time I know I need to start packing ASAP if I want to be ready to go this weekend! Any tips for packing for a baby or traveling with baby?

PRACTICING | patience. While I’m absolutely adoring this cuddly newborn baby stage, I do sometimes struggle with wanting to be able to get things done, go places, and get some sleep. Motherhood is definitely teaching me patience. For now I will keep practicing patience and work on savoring all of these moments when all my baby boy wants is to be in my arms.

PINNING | Home decor ideas. Sitting in the living room nearly 24/7 has me very tired of the little decorating we’ve done since moving and with spring here I’m in the mood to spruce things up a bit. I also still have a few pieces of winter decor out that desperately needs to go. I’m specifically looking at budget home decor ideas as a one income family with a new baby we don’t have much money to spare. Hopefully I can update a few little things on the cheap soon! Thanks to Anne and Jess for hosting this great link-up.

Currently | July

Is it already July? Seriously. Agh. I can’t keep up. Can’t let this month slip by without doing my favorite post. Read on to see what I’m up to this month, ya know, apart from moving and all.

TOASTING | Husband’s new job. I know I mentioned we are moving, but little was said about Husband’s new job. We got pretty frustrated and discouraged while we waited and searched for his first post grad job. With each new possibility that arose, my heart would commit, and before I knew it I had our entire future planned in my mind. This resulted in a lot of heartache and crushed plans. When this job came along, it wasn’t even something we were majorly considering. Things moved so quickly I didn’t even have time to think and dream and plan. Then there we were, accepting a job and making the decision to move. This job is something Husband has dreamed of for so long and he is so excited to get started and grow in this company. It’s exciting & unexpected, but very obviously God’s plan.

GOING | to really miss West Virginia. Expect me to write on this more soon. Really been feeling the things we are going to be saying goodbye to here. Just because the future is so exciting, doesn’t change the hurt of the things we are leaving.

SMELLING | White Peach Mango wax bars. Husband picked this scent out at the store a few weeks ago and I’ve loved heating this in my Scentsy recently. It’s such a delicious & summery scent!

WEARING | Clothes? I never know what to put for this one. Guys, I work from home and don’t go many places. My wardrobe is not very exciting. I have been digging a few simple maxi dresses I got this summer and I feel like I’ve been living in those. They are super comfy and can be dressed up or down which is a definite win in my book!

WISHLISTING | Everything possible for my dream home. While I’m not exactly moving into my dream home, we are moving into a new apartment with more decorating possibilities. Even more so I will be living near a handful of new to-me stores that will bring lots of fun. My wishlist is about a mile long right now. If you check out my Pinterest, you will get a little bit of an idea of the things I’m wishing for.

Thanks so much to Anne over at In Residence and Jenna at Gold & Bloom for hosting such a lovely link-up!

Currently | March

March? What? It’s not possible. I mean I know that February is a short month, but still. This is ridiculous. My birthday and then Husband’s graduation are just over 2 months away. 2016 is already flying by! I’m feeling a little more on top of things these days, so I’m actually posting my currently post right when I’m supposed to! Aren’t you proud of me? It’s the little things folks. photo-1432821596592-e2c18b78144f

WISHING | That the warm weather would stick around. The weather keeps teasing us and it’s getting old. We keep having a few days of gorgeous weather which get’s everyone excited for spring and then? Snow. Because what other sort of weather should we be experiencing in March? It’s supposed to be cold and snowy the next few days, but it looks like next week might officially break us free from this pattern! *knocks on wood* Hopefully I didn’t just curse us. Hurry up warm weather!

CRAVING | Some quality people time. I’m an introvert who loves alone time, but I have a bad habit of not going out ever and I end up going weeks without quality time with other humans (Other than Husband of course!). I really need to remedy this as soon as possible and maybe just maybe I can convince myself to get out there more often.

GOING | to get my clean on. (Ha, see what I mean? I rarely go anywhere exciting.) The next few days will be busy tackling a cleaning to-do list and trying to figure out how to get the cleaning under control. Seriously, please tell me how to manage the cleaning because almost 3 years in, I still don’t have a system that works. Am I missing something? Is there some magic solution I’m not aware of? SEND HELP!

WEARING | Ummmm, sweat pants? Seriously, every time I have to answer what I’m wearing I feel a little ashamed. This is the reality of work from home wife life. I sit in front of a computer in a room with the door shut 8+ hours of the day. My apartment is freezing, so what else am I supposed to wear? I also never go anywhere exciting, so I don’t even have any fancy exciting clothes to tell you about. All the fashion bloggers are going to come after me with their pitchforks stilettos. I know, I know, I’m a disgrace. Oh well. Hopefully this stay at home all-day-every-day stage doesn’t last forever. HOWEVER I do have one blog worthy thing to report on. I picked up these adorable earrings at Altar’d State this weekend for $4! I’ve been wearing them non-stop since then. Such great everyday pieces. Earrings

LEARNING | More & more about birth. Nope, not pregnant – just working on my doula studies. I’ve mentioned this many times in the past, but if I’m being honest, studying has been on the back burner for far too long. With Husband busy with school and work, I’ve been working full time and taking care of the apartment and other responsibilities (with Husband’s help of course!), taking time for myself and studying something I love just didn’t seem important. Thankfully after talking with some important people in my life, and a meltdown or two I realized taking time to pursue something I love is in fact worth the time and effort. It feels good to be taking some “me time” again that isn’t just vegging and watching Netflix.

Thanks so much to Anne over at In Residence and Jenna at Gold & Bloom for hosting such a lovely link-up!

November | Currently

November is here and I really can’t believe it. I almost completely forgot about this little link-up but thankfully remembered to squeeze this in today. I love this link-up with Anne and Jenna each month, mostly because I get to meet and mingle with some amazing bloggers! Be sure to join the party and share all about what you are currently up to!

Currently fall leaves

COOKING| Food that isn’t too good for me. Truthfully, since Whole30 ended I have not been doing well with my eating. We went grocery shopping last night and I was appalled by what was in my shopping cart. Apart from this, I’m making plenty of soup. Potato Soup, Taco Soup, Chili, Lasagna Soup & more! Soup is definitely one of my favorite foods and truly the best cold weather food.

PLANNING | Lots of celebrations! With Thanksgiving, Husband’s birthday, Christmas, and New Year all falling in the next 2 months there is plenty of planning to do. The holidays are especially chaotic trying to figure out where we’re going, when we’ll be there and what we’re doing. We have so much family that we love dearly that we wish we could spend all of our holidays with, but unfortunately tough decisions have to be made. We are trying to get those tough choices out of the way so we can start planning all the fun stuff! Being this is only our 3rd married Christmas, we are still working on establishing our Christmas traditions. What are your favorite?

SMELLING | Various candles and my pumpkin roll wax melts daily! I need to stock up on some more candles and wax melts though. For some reason when it comes to candles and those types of things I never buy them for myself and always just wait until someone gifts me them. I think I might have to slip away to Bath & Body Works and buy some new candles to get me through this winter though!

APPRECIATING | Facebook Groups. I’m involved in a couple groups on Facebook that are made up of some of the most fantastic people. Two of the groups in particular are full of women that love God, but live real relatable lives. I love getting to glean from them as well as share my heart. I’m a bit of a homebody and with working from home I really don’t get many opportunities to head out and meet people. Thankfully social media has provided an awesome way to connect with others all over the world. (Note: I am appreciating a whole lot more than FB groups, I just thought this was a little unique so I decided to share)

ANTICIPATING | 2016 and the many new adventures it will take us on. Husband will be graduating this spring (I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS FINALLY HAPPENING) and that graduation will bring a handful of changes I’m sure. We will begin the job hunt that could take us out of Southern, WV or leave us here to deepen our roots. Job hunting, moving, and just overall big life changes. My worrier’s heart is already stressing out, but overall I am filled with such excitement and anticipation to see what God is going to do on this next adventure. It’s been amazing to see Him work every step of the way and I have faith He will continue to do so.

Currently | October

We are already in the 7th day of October and I’m kind of shocked by how quickly this year has flown by. It is already time to do my monthly currently post with these two lovely ladies – Anne & Jenna. I so love being a part of this fantastic monthly link-up. You should join us too!

EATING | I think you all know quite a great deal about what I’m eating right now, but if you missed it I’m doing a Whole30, with all the details over HERE. Basically, lots of meat, veggies, and fruit. (Although I’m still dreaming of pizza folks…)

EXPLORING | Various organization concepts, especially planner ideas. I have a bit of an obsession with writing everything down, making endless lists, and spending too much time planning to be organized instead of actually being organized. I’m desperate to find a system that is efficient and actually leaves time for me to accomplish the things on my to-do list. I would love to have your suggestions too!

WEARING | All the comfy fall clothes. Leggings, yoga pants, sweatshirts, & sweaters. I work from home where I obviously don’t have a uniform/dress code. But on the rare chances I do head out into the real world I tend to reach for my favorite jeans, a button up or sweater, a scarf, and probably some toms or boots. Color wise, throw me some dark red/maroon, teals, and blacks and I’ll be a happy person.

ADMIRING |  Friends who are following dreams. Moriah of Untidy Grace just announced her plans to pursue Holy Yoga instruction. I have two compassionate and powerful friends who are finishing up nursing school. Another dear friend is pushing through her senior year of college as she plans her future with her fiance and I am so excited to see where it takes them. Then I have the dear friends who are embracing their callings and raising little ones to know Jesus and it just all makes me so happy. I love supporting their dreams and I’m so thankful they will support mine as well.

COLLECTING | Inspiration for a fall photo shoot. I think i have lined up the chance for Husband and I to have some pictures captured for us and I am so excited! We haven’t had real pictures done since our wedding (although my momma took some great ones in November 2013, see below). I’m already pulling a bunch of ideas that I love so we can have a shoot that really captures us at this stage in life. Now just to decide whether to include our pup or not…

HOPING | To get my hair cut soon. It’s been over a year since I really had it cut and it’s getting long and beyond lifeless. I’ve been saying this for the past week though, so I’m not sure when I will get the nerve to do it.

WISHING | Fall would stick around forever. Unfortunately though, it tends to show up later than I’d wish and then winter is always early to the  party. In 2013 and 2014 we had snow in OCTOBER folks! I’m not ready for that! So let’s just keep wishing that fall sticks around as long as possible.

That’s it for this month’s currently post! What are you up to right now? Join the link-up or comment below with your current goings-on!
